2022 New Year's Resolution: Update Your Will
18-01-2022 | Resource | Graeme HockleyOne resolution that never seems to top the list of popular things to do in the New Year is probably one of the most important, and that is getting your legal affairs in order.
Many people forget to make a Will, or if they have one, forget to update it when their circumstances change. For instance, if you have recently married, or separated, purchased property or inherited assets yourself, you should update your Will to reflect how you would like your estate to be distributed in the event of your death.
It's not something that we like to think about, but having an up-to-date Will is very important - particularly if you have family members and loved ones that you would like taken care of.
At Lamrocks, we have one of only a few Accredited Specialists in Wills and Estates across Western Sydney. We can provide advice as to how you should prepare your Will to ensure your family is taken care of, and whether you need other legal documents such as a Power of Attorney or Enduring Guardian. These documents are particularly important if you are going to be travelling overseas for an extended period of time, for example, or if you can foresee a time when you might not be able to make legal, financial or medical decisions for yourself.
